Combining Trapcode Particles with 3D rendered scene
on Sep 25, 2012 at 12:07:25 pm

Hi,
I have an interesting dilema. I have a scene rendered in 3D of a camera travelling through a field of objects (approx 10 objects). I can render out each object as a separate render and bring that into AE, and import the camera from C4D. I can add particles, and create nice Z depth and have the particles follow along with the camera. My problem is If I put the particles on top of a layer, they appear above that layer regardless of their Z space. Same thing if I place the paticle layer behind the 3D layer in the stacking order. Normally I might just create a back layer of particles and a front layer, but with 10 objects that doesn't work. Can anyone share any tricks for getting these layers in front of and behind the rendered 3D layers?
Mike

Hi,

You should be able to render out a Z pass from C4D and use it as Particular's Z-buffer to hide the particles. Check out this video on the Trapcode site:
