controlling particles/sprites attributes dynamically via expressions
on Feb 6, 2011 at 11:55:30 pm

Hi,
I just started using Particular this week and it's pretty awesome. I'm fairly newbish with After Effects as well, coming from a film background. I'm trying to create a motion trail effect, similar as the one based on the ipod motion trail tutorial found here:

http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-make-light-streaks-from-ipod-nano-commerc...

However, I want to be able to control the line weight dynamically, so that, as the trail goes into a tight curve, it gets 'larger'. If that is not feasible, how about a random dynamic scale that gives it a nice organic variation, without having to key size attributes manually? I am not sure if this can be done using expressions for vector or whatnot, but maybe someone here can point me in the right direction!

Thanks !
R

You can write an expression and tie angular velocity to your particle size to do what you want.
