I've been asked to add some surreal bubbles to fall through a cityscape. At the moment I'm using Particular to generate some particles from a bubble sprite I've created in Photoshop. The only problem is that I can't figure out how to create distortion for each of bubbles. I'd like to add this detail to really sell the bubble effect. Any ideas on how to go about this? Will I need to create bubbles in a 3d modeling program to be able to set this sort of distortion?
You can precomp the bubbles layer and then use it as a displacement map. Set up an adjustment layer under your bubbles precomp and then apply the displacement effect...I think it is under distort. Then select the bubbles precomp as your source layer and adjust the horiz and vert settings to taste. Hope this helps.
