Trapcode Suite 10 Install Error - Multiple Copies of Plug-Ins
on Nov 20, 2010 at 3:54:06 am

I recently purchased the Trapcode Suite 10 from Red Giant Software a few months ago. I installed both the CS4 & CS5 plug-ins as I have to use both programs due to a rendering issue that affects me negatively in CS5 (you can see some previous posts from me on this in the AE forum).

All that said, I have been getting error messages upon opening CS4 that prompt that "Muliple Copies" of three specific plugs-ins were found:
* RGS Grow Bounds
* 3D Stroke
* Starglow

Starglow error:

I do not have this problem with CS5.

I have checked the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\Plug-ins folder (and subdirectories) for multiples of these plug-ins, but I have not been able to find them in this location...

Any thoughts on where else to look?

The plug-ins still work correctly, but it's rather annoying on start up.

THANKS!

This is a common installation error with Trapcode Products... esp if you upgrade at a later time than your orignal installation. Some Plugins are used by both After effects and Premier Pro.. because of this the plugins are store in a place that both applications can access... Check your installation under

C:\Programfiles\Adobe\Common\plugins\(version Cs4 or CS5)\MediaCore

and compare them to your After effects plugin folder.. (sidenote cs4 would have been installed in your (x84) files and CS5 in your regular (x64) so make sure you check both)

if you intend to use the plugins in both AE and Premier.. i would remove the duplicates from your after effects directory.. as it will already be loading from the media core folder.

Hope this was helpful
