Rotating a 3D motion path with continuously emitted particles??
on Dec 2, 2009 at 7:16:00 pm

I have an emitter constantly emitting particles along an arc (motion path) in 3D. This motion path is attached to a null that is rotating. In theory the particles should conform to this arc while rotating around the null. The motion path seems to rotate according to the null's rotation, however the particles will not conform to this arc. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

(i have an sequence of images depicting what i'm talking about if needed)

When you say attached, do you mean parented? If so, it's not going to work. Particular looks at the layer's own values and can't take parenting into account. You'll need to use expressions to tie them together, rather than parenting.

yes, unclear, so some preview file could be a big help.
on other hand, what you try to achieve? rotate whole particle system? there are transform parameters for that.
