Form basically generates the appearance of 3D surfaces, which is more or less what you are trying to do. You would have to shape/animate this surface with the use of tools such as displacement and distortion to get the look you want.
thanks, yeah i've been messing w/ it a bit and somewhat getting what i was trying to get. i used box-strings for the base form to make the lines (only one direction, but thats ok) and mapped an audio reactor to fractal and i'm pretty happy with where its going.
my only question right now then is, is there a way to keep the grid in place, but have the strings/particles evolve in position? what i'm saying is, i want it to look like the camera is constantly moving backwards, so that the lines are receding into the background, but not have to actually make a huge grid and keyframe the z position.
