Trapcode Form Color Issue
on Jan 25, 2009 at 1:14:01 am

I was wondering if it was possible to change the color of a +certain section+ of a string instance according to its position on the y-axis.

I'm basically attempting to create a dimensional soundwave effect a la joy division:

I'm using a string emitter w/ multiple instances set in z-space and 1 instance in y-space with an audio file driving a fractal distortion across the y-axis.

My problem occurs when i try to use a color gradient (in either the 'quick map' or 'layer map') to color along the y-axis.

I want the peaks to be red while keeping the baseline blue along the same 'string' but coloring along the y-axis has no effect. coloring along the y-axis only seems to affect form when you have multiple "strings in y"

I've found that the only way to color along an individual string is to use the x-axis but that's of no use to me because there's no way to achieve that same look across that plane.

Any help would be appreciated, even if just to confirm that this functionality doesn't exist in form.

Thanks,
Ab
