Particular Jittery Scaling
on Sep 20, 2007 at 4:38:28 am

Using Particular I am emitting large spheres (140) in a 1920 x 1080 29.97 comp. they get smaller over their lifetime (3sec). As they scale back they don't scale smoothly. They jitter. I have tried motion blur. I have tried smoothing the "Scale over life" curve. Nothing seems to help. Any ideas? Quickly please!

The "over life" curves display that behaviour under certain circumstances, it depends a lot on how your curve looks. If possible, use the presets (there is one that linearly scales down).

Another way would be to make the particles, instead of scale, move backward away from the camera, thus getting smaller.

Yet another is to use custom particles and do the scale inside the pre-comp (and keep over life curve at 100% all the time).
