particle behind camera
on Aug 14, 2007 at 2:54:21 am

I need to simulate a camera moving through smoke, but no matter how much I change the Z depth of the emitter, there are always a couple particles lingering in front of the camera.

Any thoughts?

There is no property named "Z Depth" so I'm not sure what you refer to.

There are of course many ways to simulate that. Either emit a cloud towards the camera, or fly the camera through the particles, or use Physics-Wind to blow the particles past the camera...

Sorry about the confusion with "Z Depth." I meant "Position Z." My mind was stuck in 3DS MAX.

I will try some of the ideas you suggested.

Thanks for the quick response.

Cheers,

Sterling

The above solution should work. You could also combine the solution, by moving the camera in and the smoke layer out. If you still find there's a couple lingering particles, a quick fix could be to lower the opacity at the end or mask out the very last lingering particles that you can't seem to get the camera past.
