Particle Burst from the Edges of an Object?

Hi there,

I have an effect I have wanted to do for some time now, but cant figure out quite how to do it. Im sure particular can probably do it some way so I am posting here for help!

I bascially have a card.... normal casino type card, Queen of Hearts to be exact but thats irrelevant! What I am trying to do, is do a particular burst, that appears to be coming form the edges of the card only, so perhaps do some kind of mask around the shape of the card, and use this as a starting edge for particular? Yes that sounds like an ideal world and its probably not that easy, but any work arounds of other plugins that maybe able to do this greatley appreciated.

See attached the example, which may make more sense, the arrows are where the particules would be bursting out??

Anyone shed any light here:)

Thanks in advance

No, not with particular. But lucky for you, there's a workaround (assuming your card is a still or only slightly animated).

a) Render your bursting particles as one long straight strip.

b) Get Digital Anarchy's Anarchy Toolbox plugins.

c) Draw a mask around the card.

d) Use Path Distort from said collection to bend your strip around the card.

Of course feel free to manually place parts of the strip on each side and animate it.
