How do I Achieving String like motion? (Adidas Take5)
on Nov 9, 2006 at 12:59:41 am

I've seen many reels with this string type motion - the one that exemplifies what I want to do the most is the take5 commerical by Adidas (http://youtube.com/watch?v=MYqOwt-MC8k).

How would I achieve the string like motion from the ball and hands of the players? I tried Andrews Tutorial but I run into a problem in which the strings are in more of a "plane" object then strings. They tend to overlap each other in great lengths and doesn't look good at all.

If anybody can help me - please do!

Well, since the streaks in the video move in 3D space, you have to take care that your streaks do as well. As you may also notice, unlike in the iPod commercials, the strings are not persistant, avoiding potential overlaps, so instead of using Particular's Path mode, you'd have to use normal emitter motion and fade your particles opacity over life.
