3d stroke with hard edges (ribbon, vector etc)

Hei.

I wan't to create a "line/stroke" that moves in 3d space, that's easyly controlled. Right now I'm trying with particular following a path, wich gives me good control over the path. But the problem is that the line is round and feathered, like a sylinder moving. I am looking for a vector type of line, that is flat, but still moves in 3d space.
Don't know if you understand, but hope so, any help out there?

Hi Siesta, i never found a way to do a realistic looking ribbon in 3d stroke, no matter how hard I tried...however, I did a pretty realistic 3d one in zaxwerks invigorator in five minutes just exporting a path from illustrator, with reflections and all.

Use custom particle shapes (e.g. a simple hard-edged solid). Problem is, that there may be gaps and the custom particles also do not bank/ rotate, so the illusion may not be perfect.
