fire in AE Trapcode Particular

I'm using Particular to make a flame in AE..so far it is highly realistic except for when the emitter moves relatively fast compared to the velocity of the particles and their lifespans...when that happens i get the undesired effect of the flame being stretched...so what I'm looking for is a way (preferably in Particular that I'm simply unaware of, or else something in AE) to override the particles' deaths if they exceed a certain distance from the emitter.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Nope, can't do. You can however move your particular layer around instead of the emitter itself.
