Hi there,
does anybody know if there is a way to control the size of custom particles over time in Trapcode Particular like one can in Particle Playground via gradients in the Ephemeral Property Mapper? I'd like to be able to move my particles in 3d space hence not using Particle Playground.

Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Nino

I had a look at it, but does size over life allow me to affect specific particles (ie. in a grid system) to change size over life? In particle playground I can animate a greyscale ramp and use it as a mapper to change size over life. Can particular do the same?

Thanks, Nino

Size over Life is a curve that you draw in the UI that decides the particles size over its life.

What you are looking for is probably the Layer Grid Emitter, where you can use a layer's lightness to control the size of the particle. It can be set to either sample at current time (what you seem to want) or to sample only at birth time and then keep the value over the full life of the particle.

Check this in the built-in help:

Under "Tutorials":
Emitting Particles from Layers

Scroll down a bit for "Layer RGB Usage".
