Sound Key Parameters
on Mar 31, 2006 at 12:27:57 am

Hi Guys, Im wondering if anyone could help me with something. Im using soundkeys for a project at the moment but cant seem to figure out how to set certain parameters to how the plugin effects my layers. For instance if i have a layer that scales to a kick drum how to set how much it can scale by or say if only height scales and not the width? Any help would be brilliant:)

Chris

You need to use expressions. Scale is an array that stores two values. To separate them, use something similar to this:

my_volume=thisComp.layer("Soundkeys").effect("Soundkeys")("Output 1");
X=scale[0];
Y=my_volume;

[X,Y]

Ah thanks man, Im new to expressions so Im a little confused to where I add my values. Say for instance I wanted a layer to scale in height between 20pixels to 250 pixels.

Thanks again man

Scale is a proportional parameter expressed in percend. You would need to add some extra expression code to make it conform to pixel values.

my_volume=thisComp.layer("Soundkeys").effect("Soundkeys")("Output 1");

min_val=20;
max_val=250;

X=scale[0];
Y=linear(my_volume,0,100,min_val,max_val);

[X,Y]

Ooops, values need to be just the other way around;

my_volume=thisComp.layer("Soundkeys").effect("Soundkeys")("Output 1");

min_val=20;
max_val=250;

X=scale[0];
Y=linear(my_volume,min_val,max_val,0,100);

[X,Y]

I tried this expression you posted and get errors.

Here is the expression I get when I attach the scale picwhip to Output 1 in Sound Keys:

temp = thisComp.layer("Soundkeys").effect("Sound Keys")("Output 1");
[temp, temp]

What do I add to this expression to control how much I want my object to scale?
