Blue sparky light around a door?
on Feb 18, 2006 at 10:23:54 pm

Hi all,

I need to put an electric blue glow/sparky light around a door frame for a horror short.
I know it can be done in Particular but I'm new to the programme and can't work it out.
Can anyone help?

Mind like a steel trap ....

Not sure from your post exactly what you are looking for or what part of the effect you are having a problem with, but i threw together a quick file that may help get you going in the right direction...

The file was made in Production Studio (AE7Pro) and uses Particular as well as Shine for the 'glow' effect. There is a small thumb movie to show you the basic look.

I used a couple of simple masks and layered effects to make the 'door' edge glow and the star-shaped particles emit from one instance of the 'door' layer. This has the effect of them emmiting from the edges of the layer. I set the physics to air - wind blowing in z direction so the particles appear to move toward the camera.

You could animate masks around the door to slowly reveal the glow and particles as well as tweak any of the Shine/Particular values to change the look...

Hope this helps.

Greg
