Controlling position of organic presets
on Oct 8, 2005 at 4:54:45 am

I really like the look of the organic presets in Particular, but am having trouble controlling their position. By default, they move from left to right, but I see no keyframes controlling the position of the emitter. How do you control the position of these effects?

Thanks,
Rob

The effects are controlled by the forces like Wind, Turbulence and Spin. The emitters are static. Change them in order to change the direction/ look of the lines.

Thanks. I actually tracked it down to the velocity parameter of the emitter. No, if I set the velocity to 0, then try to control its position by keyframing the XY parameters, the effect doesn't move with the XY. Any idea why that is?

I think I've answered my own question...
The XY coordinates refer to the emitter, which, once those lines get going, are set to 0. Therefore, they're not emitting anything and their position is meaningless.

I could emit some particles, but that makes the animation less flowing than I would have liked.

Maybe it's time to plunk down the money on 3D Stroke and Shine!

Thanks Rob, for all of your help! No problem Rob, anytime! :)
