Is it possible to create fairly realistic clouds in Particular?
So far all my efforts end in just large blobs. Most of the smoke or cloudy effects Ive seen has been distant stuff. Ive got to fly through the clouds. Maybe this is only possible in a 3d package.

I'd say give up right away, if you are serious about doing a fly-thru. There's a demo of a fly-over at the trapcode site, but that's as good as it gets. The problem is, that actually Particular's Cloudlet and Smokelet particle types are no more than clusters of spheres. Add to that the fact that those spheres are more 2.5 D without real volumetric rendering rather than true 3D and you begin to see the limitations. A 3D prog would definitely be the way to go.
