3D Emitter Path for Particular

3D Emitter Path for Particular

I'm trying to have my little particle field travel through 3D space ocassionally stopping to circle around an object. Sort of like the Winterfresh spot in the galleray. Is there a simple way to draw a path for this or do I have to just create a series of key frames. I can't figure out how to draw a 3d motion path especially since the emitter axis are split up.
Please advise. Thanks.

Try using a dummy Null layer or solid and then pickwhip the emitter position to this solid's position parameters. This will give you a maximum level of control and visual feedback.
