Oh my, this question pops up once a week... Doesn't anybody of you know what the U keyboard shortcut is good for (or the search function of this forum for that matter)? Anyway, Emitter position and Birth rate are the key to success.

Hey, no offence, but how about some kind answers instead of fatherly scolding?

This is as kind as it gets. In this computer age I would at least expect someone to know what a search function is good for and not using it to me only proves how ignorant someone really is. So why should I cheer them up by making them feel comfy in their ignorant behavior? And to add some more "negativity": Similarly I would expect that people know the U and UU shortcuts - they are among the most important in AE. How can they expect to handle Particular if they don't even know how to efficiently work in AE itself? Now you can beat me all you want and hate me for speaking out, but at least I don't pretend to be the nice guy and then stab someone in the back.

Let me tell you something. I agree with the fact that people need to know
what AE is before asking or know what to ask. I posted a similar response
to someone who's question was "where are the particle libraries" in AE forum.
I got irritated by this ignorance and replied with some anger.

As you know, we AE users had to go thru many years of training and aggrevation
to get to where we are now versus these people come on to this site to post
something expecting some easy stuff or wanting to be held by the hand like
kids.

I myself know my way around AE, the associated plugins and all your key
shortcuts. I also strongly believe in training hard to get the feeling of
accomplishment. That's why for the last two years, I have dedicated most
of my time training in AE.

After my post response to the above incident, I was beat up by few people
who claimed that anyone trained or not have the right to ask questions.
Since then, I felt that(IMO) I needed to answer kindly to questions as much as
possible.

You may agree or disagree, but that's what I have to say.

I get your point and I, too, try to be polite as much as I can. It's just that such things can easily get on your nerves. On the other hand I feel I never made any claims to being "nice" (which would be way over top anyway), so I sometimes take great pleasure in living out my grouchiness, sarkasm and cynisism.

Hey Mylenium,

I would just like to say that your website and various things you have posted have really helped me with After Effects. People just shouldn't be so touchy.

sorry that i am not as good with after effects, it was the first day i tried it...so i now how to chose a text as a layer emitter. now the particles from skytype or smoketype just fade to the text and fade out again...but in the preview window of those particle effects the particles actually spell/write the word? how do you do that?
