3D Stroke using 'custom' stroke bitmap or possibly sub-comp???...Peder??
on May 4, 2005 at 1:50:56 pm

I know this is not supported at the moment by 3D Stroke, and if there is a 'technique' to do it I have no idea how.....BUT, it would be very, very cool to use a custom bitmap or even a sub-comp as the 'brush' in 3D Stroke.

Any thoughts on that? Or is there a 'trick' to do something like that now???

Mmh, you could always use the AE built-in Echo effect to achieve the result, but it's very computationally intensive.

You could try Trapcode Particular for this. Set Emitter>Velocity and Emitter>Velocity Random to zero so particles just stay still. Then keyframe Position XY to paint the stroke. Use Custom particles.

Thanks for your reply. I have not had the opportunity to try it yet, but I definately will give it a go! I appreciate your time.
