So, an example of what I want to accomplish is: Character sees object on table, picks it up, and either throws it or drops it in a different place.
Fairly simple concept, but I didn't find a definite solution as to how to accomplish this.
So the object is parented to the hand, follows it. I want the object to stop following it, but I need it to stay where the hand held it and let go of it, not for it to snap into it's origin or something like that.
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but when I looked at tutorials on youtube there were many different ways and they all had different effects, often not what I described. So I wanted to ask for a proper way of handling this.
Read up on using Point Constraints.
Maybe read up on the rest of the constraint options as well.
Since IK is involved, you can't parent to just anything in that chain.
You need to use the constraint option.
