Bright outline when rendering objects
on Feb 19, 2015 at 7:14:51 am

Hello,

I have a question about rendering objects in Maya 2013/VRay, for compositing in After FX. I'm working on a scene with my models in front of a sky background.

When I import my VRay render in After Effects, I set the Alpha to "Premultiplied/Matted" so as to display the objects alone, but then I have a bright outline on all objects rendered. I have to apply filters in AFX, matte chokers, etc to get rid of this outline, which messes with the original edge of the object, especially when it's a small object such as a ladder.

Do you know where this bright outline comes from, and is there a way to render objects without it?

Thanks

Can you place a background matte and render to see if its within Render view?

It does sound like a premult issue.

Thanks Eric - can you elaborate a little? What do you mean by background matte?

During Import into AE have you tried Straight as an option?

And in Maya there is not background matte of any sort right?

Even a camera with Image Plane.

Yes, tried both straight & premult in AE, same issue.

In Maya I have a camera image plane but it's turned off, and I have a VRay Sky behind my objects
