Transparency shadow problem
on Jan 8, 2015 at 7:32:38 pm

I have a PNG with transparency mapped to a rectangle. I am using a direct light with ray traced shadows, and mental ray to render. The material is Lambert, with the PNG mapped to color and transparency.

You can see two shadows, the dark is the correct one for the character, but there's a "spill over" light shadow in the form of the rectangle which holds the PNG character. I can't seem to get rid of this light shadow no matter what I do. Any suggestions?
My Lambert material looks like this:

Thanks in advance for your help.

I found the solution. In the material Raytrace Options, need to set Shadow Attenuation to 0. By default it was 0.5
