Animating Paper Unfolding in Maya

Hi guys! For a project I'm currently working on in Maya, I need to animate paper unfolding and forming the environment.

For example:

But I'm not sure where to even start with it, so suggestions on how to approach it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Hi Jun-Lin Harries,

This may not be the best idea out there but here's what you can try out.

Say you have a building modeled in maya.
Convert it to nCloth and simulate. (I guess basic settings will do)
Render out the frames as image files.
Reverse them in After Effects or something.

I guess this will be the quickest way to achieve this kind of effect.
One of the million ways to achieve this in maya. :)

Hope this helps.

I would think that you could create this effect quite easily using Blendshapes. There are a lot of resources on youtube and on the net.. Hope this helps

I should have also said that if you connect the blendshape to an object like a NURBS circle you will have exact control over how the object blends.
