Improving resolution of NURBS
on Jun 20, 2014 at 4:28:10 pm

Hi All,
I'm having an issue with a NURBS project that I'm hoping someone may be able to help with. I'm working in Maya but the majority of my experience in this program is related to animation and not modeling. This is also my first project involving NURBS.
I have been sent STEP files exported from CAD to animate but I've noticed that there are gaps between the surfaces. The curves themselves are exact but the surfaces seem low-res and have flat edges where they should be smooth. I think the solution must be related to increasing the tessellation of the surfaces to get a higher-fidelity result but none of the approaches I've tried have removed the gaps entirely and I still see them in my renders. Below is a screenshot:

Apologies in advance if this is a simple fix. As I said, I've done some work in Maya, just not with NURBS.
Thanks for your help!
