I have created my blend shapes by duplicating my base mesh, extracting the head from the body of the duplicate and then working from that head to create the blend shapes. When applying the blend shape operation to this base head, everything of course works fine. But Now i want to make it work with the entire base mesh, including the body. Since there is a significant vert count difference between just the head and the whole base mesh, I realize I can't just apply the operation from the head duplicates to that original mesh. So I have tried reattaching the body to each base head and THEN applying the blend shape operation. (without deleting history or freezing transformations of course) and it doesn't work. I have somehow killed my connection from the base mesh to the original. If I still wanted to use these head duplicates, does anyone know if there is a way to restore their connection to the original mesh?
