Trying to deactivate an animation clip in Trax Editor via Mel
on Mar 21, 2014 at 11:56:04 pm

Hi guys,

I feel like I've searched the web for everything it's got but I'm fairly new to Mel so I hope this is not a stupid question.

I'm trying to make an automated-export script and in doing so I need to Activate and deactivate an animation clip in the trax editor. Funny thing is I can activate it no problem the following does the trick:

clip -edit -active $animName $characterSet;

But when I try to deactivate nothing seems to work, what I don't get is why this won't work;

clip -edit -active off $animName $characterSet;

I get this error message: / Error: line 3: Must select a single character or a clip library. //

And I have no clue what to do about it. As far as I understand it, it's asking for a character which (if I'm not mistaking) is exactly what I'm giving it as the last input.
Standard google searches didn't really provide any results, so now I come to you guys hoping someone have experience with this! :)
Any help would be much appreciated!

- Alex

Alright nevermind, a couple of hours of sleep apparently did the trick.
For anyone in the same problem here's how I solved it.

The -active flag does not take a bool but a string so the command ends up looking like this

clip -edit -active "default" -name $animName -character $char;
