I use maya mainly as a hobby for modelling, low-level effects etc. I use a beefy desktop indoors to render and do all the taxing stuff, but I'd love to be able to take my projects out on the road when I travel. Apart from copying the projects on to a pen drive and then transferring them back when I'm finished, is there a way to do this via a cloud service or some sort of file sharing service?
I haven't tried this, but it seems to me there's no reason you couldn't. It might impact performance, though, if you're pulling a lot of data (image sequences would be the worst offenders, I'd think).
Any service that allows you to treat some cloud location as an accessible drive (would Google Drive do it?) might work. Just point Maya to the location of that project folder and it should be good to go.
