Maya and Vue
on Apr 20, 2013 at 3:55:51 pm

Hi,
I have the student version of MAYA and standalone PE of Vue x11 Xtream.

I have a model in Maya and an evironment in VUE.

Newbie in both but wanted to put them together, how do I do this please?

Thanks, Nathan.

It all depends on what program you would like to use to set up your scene. If you want to use VUE to work with your scene, you can simply import your Maya model as an .obj file into your VUE scene (environment). If you want to use Maya to work with your scene (and you have the VUE plugin for your version of Maya), you can open your VUE environment scene within your Maya file. I like the latter option because Maya is a better program to use for animation....

Option1: In Maya, open scene with Maya model, select model, then go to:
file-export selection. Choose .obj export.
In VUE, open environment scene. then go to:
file-import object. Choose your Maya model and click open. From there, you can either center your model or re-size it.

Option2: In Maya (after downloading and enabling the VUE plugin), open your file with your Maya Model. Go to the Vue tab (which is to the left of the help tab). In the Vue tab, go to: file-open. From there, open your VUE file which has your environment. After clicking open, your VUE environment should load up within Maya.

Hope that helps......

Arnold T.
