I've wondered for a while about how to go about something like this. Say I have a model of a vehicle built within Maya, and I want to composite it into a shot of a motorway which is in After Effects, how do I get it so that the vehicle matches the angle of the shot taken, is there any way without just estimating it?
Another thing I've wondered is how the shadows of the vehicle are added and how the lighting is matched? Is that done within Maya or After Effects?
You really can't. Production companies actually record the orientation of physical cameras so that things can be better replicated on the computer. You are going to have to do the artistic approach and eye it.
