Mental ray batch render slow
on Feb 28, 2013 at 6:33:43 am

Hi every one,

i am trying to render a small scene with 500 frames in an elevator set with one character in it in mental ray.But while batch rendering ,my system is using only 4 gb out of my 8 gb ram and 50% of my processor speed. So i think this is why my rendering is very slow.It had taken almost 20 hours to render 350 frames. Can anyone help me how to make my render fast.

this is my system configuration:

maya version : 2013 (64bit)
operating system : windows 7 (64 bit)
ram : 8gb
processor : intel core i5-2500k cpu @3.30ghz

Brother i would suggest, open task manager. go to processes tab, right click maya.exe and then set priority to realtime. But there is a glitch, you cannot use your pc for anything else. I repeat nothing.

It totally concentrates your pc's resources to that particular program. This is how we rendered at our place. :)

hi..thanks for the advice, but i have already tried keeping it in real time, still same problem. My pc is using only 4 gb ram out of 8 gb and processor running at 50% speed only.

Is there any other reasons which makes the rendering slow ?
