The weird looking polygons are most likely caused by your normal angle being reset to, probably, 0. FBX files appear to do that. Your should be able to fix that in the normals menu in Maya. The higher the value you enter, the smoother the object will appear.
Regarding the textures: neither .obj nor .fbx files are that good at exporting textures. That's why I try to avoid doing textures in one package and render in another. It's a lot of unnecessary trouble. As far as I know there's no real solution.

actually i took a lok at the normals but now i know what to do
actually before reading this post i thought that i figured what was the problem, when exporting from C4D i found that world/scene is HUGE for Maya, i tried to play with the near/far clipping for the camera in Maya it didnt workout, so i just reduced the object sizes in Maya and it worked fine..
next time i'll try to play with the norlams, the would be efficient i guess.
