Whenever I make 3d text in Maya using bevel plus, I always see some edges with dark shading caused by (I assume) wrong normal angles. (see images) Is there away to fix this without manually selecting every edge & "hardening" the normals?
Did you try selecting the text and choose Normals/Set to face? Sometimes that works. You don't really have that many to select though and it should be pretty quick, but alas you know there is no quick in 3d.
