Saving out jpg in square pixels
on May 3, 2012 at 6:41:15 pm

I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong but whenever I save out an image from maya and bring it into Photoshop, photoshop always seems to turn on "pixel aspect ratio correction" for which I have to constantly turn off to see the appropriate aspect ratio.

I tried telling maya to maintain the pixel aspect ratio and defined that to be as 1.0 in the render settings (it makes the device aspect ratio into 1.4(not sure what that is)). And i set the camera film aspect ratio to 1.0 as well...but this still causes photoshop to correct the ratio when i load up the jpg....Can you guys please tell me what to do so that when I bring it into photoshop it would not try to correct the ratio?

Many thanks!

Ran across this today.

Maya buggily writes the DEVICE aspect code (inverted) into the pixel ratio definition.

Short solution I found was to generate a picture in tiff instead.
