clip applied to readjusted character bones

clip applied to readjusted character bones

So, I created a character and I created an animation clip for the character. I then created another file with the same bones same rig except that I readjusted the bones (lowering the shoulder joints a bit, shortening the arms joints a bit, minor adjustments). When I apply the previous clip to the new character the animation plays but the joints are twisted and out of line. I'm not sure how to make adjustments to the animation clip to offset the joint adjustments that I made to the new skeleton.

Any help will be appreciated.
