Smooth skin bind + ncloth deformations?
on Dec 30, 2011 at 2:34:43 am

I'm currently trying to animate a character that needs to deform a little for specific scene. Since the character's body is rather simple (small, snail-like creature) I wanted to give it a try using ncloth.

I was able to make the character deform as desired. However, the smooth skin rig stops working once the ncloth is triggered. Is there a way to animate character movements with ncloth enabled at the same time?

When you turn a mesh into a piece of nCloth, the original mesh gets hidden and has the 'Intermediate Object' attribute activated, so it won't show up in your scene. It is probably still getting deformed by the rig, but those changes aren't being passed along to the cloth.

Try animating the 'Input Mesh Attract' attribute on the cloth and see if that makes it pick up on the animation of the original mesh.
