I am working on a project, that involves an animated 3D squirrel. I'm at the stage of working on the fur, and I'm having difficulties getting a color map to work properly on it. I've done some research, and it seems that it should just be a simple process of making a texture and linking the base/tip color to the file, and then baking the texture.
I do this, and the fur just appears black. I've tried many possible solutions, such as using a smaller file size (1k), switching between maya software and mental ray renderers. adding/removing lights on the fur. I'm stumped, and can't figure out a way to give my fur a proper color map.
Anyone out there have much experience with fur and would be able to help me?
