Revolve the Drum!

I’m reading “Learning Autodesk Maya 2010” frmo Autodesk and I’m stuck on Page 90.

Basically it’s having me create an oil drum. but I’m getting stuck on Step 3:

Step 1: Draw a Curve.
A. Create > EP Curve Tool > Options (Curve degree to 1 Linear)
B. Then it basically has me draw an L that has 5 points.

Step 2: Refine the Curves Shape
A. Has me use the move tool to snap to grid the bottom center of the profile curve

Step 3: Revolve the oil drum
A. Surfaces > Revolve

When I do this, it revolves along the proper AXIS (Y) but goes the wrong way! It doesn’t close it and create a barrel shape, instead it creates this huge fence looking thing because its revolving the opposite way.

Hope that makes sense. Anyway, I’ve tried a bunch of different options for the Revolve Tool and tried redrawing it top - down, then down - top.

Also couldn’t find the addendum to the book, but will try to keep looking. Was hoping it might have additional info.

Any ideas?

I discovered the answer - it appears the revolve works in only ONE place - The origin point in the middle of the screen.
