Hi, I'm making a character for an animation, and want a way to make him stick together. I already made all the joints, for the arm, leg, and head movement. I don't understand what grouping does, could someone explain? When I select all parts and try to translate, they all seem to merge into the torso..and when I use the move tool, the torso never seems to select, I must manually select. Any ideas?
You need to rig your character before you be able to move or animate any part of it, rigging is not limited to just creating some joints and bind them to your character. What you need to do is binding or skinning the joint chain to your character mesh, make some controllers for each joint and then only you can move or rotate each joint and the mesh will follow it, but this is just the beginning of a rigging process, I suggest you, if you aim to become an animator, don't spend your time on rigging now. you can simply download a ready rig from this link bellow and start learning how to animate, since the art of animating is much important for an animator than setting up a character. http://www.animationbuffet.blogspot.com/
