Transformation numbers problem
on Aug 13, 2011 at 1:24:05 am

I have an object that was imported from a 3D model seller. When I set its transform x,y,&z settings to zero the object responds to the changes but it doesn't move to the centre of the grid. There appears to be some kind of offset at work but I can't figure out how to find it. The manipulator appears to be centred in the default position.
Any suggestions?

Can you just center the pivot (Modify > Center Pivot), then snap it to the origin, then freeze transforms?

Thanks Steve, this has solved one problem and created another. Having succesfully positioned the pivot point I moved the object to grid zero by using the Snap to Grid function and now the x and z values are off by a small fraction. If I change them to zero then the object moves off centre.
Life wasn't meant to be easy.

I think you're forgetting to freeze transformations after snapping to the origin. Give that a shot.
