bump problem

Hello,

I made a simple mechanical object with five parts in Maya. Unfolded the UV map. Made an image texture in Photoshop. Loaded the file in the material. It worked fine. I'm now trying to apply a bump to the object by using the same texture image from photoshop (to have all the details in the right place) but Maya will not allow me to decrease the bump value under 1. The slider won't move, and I cannot enter another value.

Would someone have a solution for this problem?

Thanks

Do you mean you can't lower Bump Value or Bump Depth?

Bump Value is where you should plug in your texture, so you don't need the slider anyway. Bump Depth is the one you slide to control the overall effect of the bump map.

If what you're saying is that you can't map your texture to the Bump Value channel, it's possible that it has become locked. Is it ghosted? Try right-clicking on it and choosing 'unlock selected'.

Hope that helps,

-Steve
