Video Vagueness

Hi,

I'm a bit green when it comes to Maya.

I'm trying to follow a video tutorial on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfCPyGj2aII).

It's in Japanese - but I doubt that matters to you experts. I think the first minute's fine, but somewhere between 1.00 and 1.10 I'm missing something. I can get as far as 'Harden Edge' but I can't make my model appear the way it should at 1.10 (with selection points in the centre of almost every face). As a consequence, I can't figure out what happens next.

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

Kumar

Alright, here's what I think he did (starting from 1:00)

1. Harden Edge.
2. Uncheck 'Keep Faces Together'.
3. With the entire model selected, use Extrude.
4. Click a scale manipulator once. Now the 'center' scale-manipulator comes into view. Use it to get those borders.

Also, it might work best to select all the faces of the model instead of selecting it in object mode. It will make deleting the hexagons easier after the extruding bit (instead of manually selecting all faces).

That should get your model to look the way it looks @ 1:10. Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Ben van H.
