Hi, i have hundreds of bolts on my apache helicopter modelled in Maya 2011. I was wondering if i unwrap one of these, if i could replace all the other ones with the unwrapped version, would the translations/positions all transfer correctly or would i have to replace them all individually?

If you have hundreds of identical objects, you should be using instancing, which will use one single shape node for all the different copies of the object. Then any changes you make to that shape node (including unwrapping) will apply to each and every instance.
(Although I have also learned that this is sometimes less efficient than simply combining the objects into a single mesh... it depends whether the hundreds of transform nodes are 'heavier' than the hundreds of copies of the object's geometry.)
Look at the 'Replace Objects' command in the Modify menu. It should do exactly what you need.
