Cut Out Words?

Hey guys I'm a new Maya user and learning how to use it for school.

I'm trying to model a bottle like this one with a few changes. I have the base of everything but now I need to figure out how to get the gold part done. Is there a way to build that and then cut out the letters to say something different?

Thanks :)

Hi, I only know the booleans to "cut" out letters from an object but if you want to replace the original letters to a different text, just simply model the bottle and create a text along a slight curve which follows the shape of the bottle. Or you can use lettuce too to deform the shape of the text, that's how I'd do, hope it helps.

Good Luck

I'd like to add to the previous post that booleans is usually your last resort. If all else fails: BOOLEANS! It can leave nasty artifacts and unclean geometry. Go for modeling it from scratch, like suggested above.
