I know a great developer (not artist) who is an expert in ActionScript, Flash, and several other languages, and also loves 3D. He's worked with Max for a while too.
He posed this question to me, but I don't know the answer. What kinds of salaries can an accomplished Maya developer make? I.e. he's thinking about doing f/x and an f/x house, not actually developing the Maya software.
He's looking to make a change, but wants to know if it's worth it for him to pursue that path. I've heard the range from $75k to $300k, but I don't have a clue. In other words, $75k is not worth it, but $300 is to him.
He also wants to know which skills are most valuable for a 3D developer. Maya script? Python?
Anybody knowledgeable on this or can you tell me where to get that info?
well, this is surely a career and a good one actually
Although I can not tell you exactly how much you can make doing this I do know it is well paid, of course as always, it all depends on your skills etc,
here are some sample jobs posts from big companies that need programmers
