Setting hdri image from Indirect Lighting to show as BG when saving the file

Hello, me again this time with somethign I couldn't get out of myself.
I build a room with Maya 2011, now outside the windows I used the Indirect Lighting to put a hdri image of a city around the room.
The problem is that when I render it that the render screen will show my city, hwoever if I save the image the city is replaced by an empty space (alpha channel).
I was wondering if there was an easy way or function to make sure that the hdri indirect lighting becomes a background and doesn't remain white after saving the image.

If you are unsure of what I mean here is the render

The empty space is where I thought it would leave my hdri city image.

I figured most of it out, however I am still stuck on inverting a material so that it shows on the inside of a sphere and not the outside.

If anyone could tell me that that would be great :/
