projecting logo only on visable faces with alpha
on Sep 15, 2010 at 1:28:17 pm

Hi I need to project a logo animating over terrain
in the attached image A is what I need to achieve but on alpha.

when I use alpha i see all the unwanted stuff on the back of the geometry.(like in image B)

I thought I could make a layered shader with my alpha logo one top and a use background shader on the bottom but it comes out black not alpha.

at the moment im rendering on black and keying but this is not ideal any ideas how i can get just the visable faces (like a) but with alpha.

cheers

Oh derr.... I can't believe you don't even know that ;-)
Simply connect the projection node's out transparency to the matte opacity of your material (and maybe increase the alpha gain a little on thepnode too) ... easy as taking your sweets when you've gone home early.
