Been modelling recently with Maya. I have made a low poly model of my son which for a first attempt im really happy with.
However I have a problem. I created the color maps for face and eyes in Photoshop and they look really goog. I created a skullcap for his hair to use a seperate map for color and opacity but it great in photoshop but terrible on the model. I have used 1 pixel bushes and yet the hairs still look really thick and the opacity map looks blocky. I have increased the size of the map up to believe it or not 16K and it still does not improve things much. I have decreased the model size increased and decreased polygon count and no great results.
Am I missing something easy here
I would just like to add that producing the hair in other ways would be difficult to achieve as his hair colors are varied and would be difficult to duplicate
