Hi I'm still a bit of a noobie at Maya. I created a 12 sided poly cylinder and used 6 other cylinders on the sides of it to cut away with Booleans so it looks similar to a gear (its actually a peice of a minigun). My question is when I go "Poly to Sub" it smooths out the entire thing. My results I was hoping for was the rounded cutaway parts be smoothed out only. Should I be using a different method or a different tool? Also I made another 12 sided cylinder as a stand alone peice and went to "Poly to Sub" and it didn't smooth anything out at all. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks!
